Virginia Felony Assault on Police Officer Charge Dismissed
Pre-trial negotiations resulted in dismissal of a felony charge for assaulting a police officer in Henrico County, Virginia. If convicted, the defendant faced a mandatory punishment of no less than 6 months in jail.
In addition to dropping the felony charge, the Commonwealth agreed to no active jail time on a misdemeanor charge of obstruction of justice, so long as the defendant successfully completed an anger management program.
The court accepted the plea agreement.
