Q:
If I am called to the principal's office at high school and asked to answer questions that could result in my being charged with possession of marijuana, do I have any rights not to answer? I'm afraid they will call in the police.
A: Yes. Although school officials are not law enforcement agents, per se, they are "state agents" if you are in a public school. If this happens to you, you should not say anything until you talk to your parents and, if your family has one, your family lawyer.
