What can I do if I am arrested for DUI?

A: Because conviction of DUI can result in incarceration, you are entitled to an attorney. If you cannot afford to hire one, the court may appoint an attorney to represent you if you meet the qualifications based on your income. Your attorney is going to ask you for as much detail as you can provide him during the first meeting, so as soon as you are able, write down EVERYTHING you can recall about what transpired, including the order in which things were said to you by the officer, and what you said in response. No matter how unimportant you may think some of this information may be, let your attorney be the judge of that.
