Probable cause is a fluid concept that depends upon the circumstances in each particular case. The United States Supreme Court has defined it so: [Probable cause exists where] the facts and circumstances within [the policemens or magistrates] knowledge, and of which they had reasonably trustworthy information  warrant a man of reasonable caution in the belief  that a crime has been or is being committed.
