Recovery of $200K+ for Knee Injury

The plaintiff, a 49-year-old male, was struck broadside by the defendant, who ran a stop sign. The impact flipped the plaintiff’s vehicle. The plaintiff refused medical treatment on the date of the accident.
The only injury complained of by the plaintiff was trauma to the right knee. He was initially diagnosed as having a tear in the meniscus of the knee and traumatic chondromalacia. However, eight months after that surgery, he received a second opinion and was advised that he had an ACL tear, which was repaired.
Thereafter, because of those surgeries and the fact that he had extensive degenerative changes in the medial compartment, a partial knee replacement was done. The plaintiff had an almost complete recovery and was functioning in all activities of daily life.
