Good News! Virginia State Police reported that traffic fatalities this Memorial Day Weekend were less than last year's. And, state-wide, traffic fatalities are less this year than at this time last year, overall. The report offered no explanation -- or speculation -- on the decline, but those in and around Richmond should have noted that there was less traffic on I-95, I-295 and I-64 over the weekend than in years past. Perhaps the downturn in the economy and higher gas prices kept people at home instead of on the road going to visit family and friends. Less people on the road usually means fewer accidents.
