To a great man, from a grateful father,

You demonstrated great skills at argumentation in court today. Thank you so much for your service.

I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for bringing [our son] home, hopefully for a long time.

Sincerely,

Amanda was charged with reckless driving in Henrico General District Court. She thought she could represent herself, and she did. After she was found guilty, fined $500, and had her license suspended, she contacted Tony Stelly for help.

Prior to her trial on appeal in circuit court, Mr. Stelly persuaded the Commonwealth's Attorney to reduce the charge to speeding.

As a result, Amanda kept her driver's license, paid a fine of less than half that originally imposed, and most important, now has no criminal record.

" alt="Henrico Virginia Reckless Driving Attorney " />Amanda is a young mother residing in Goochland, Virginia. She and her husband are both working hard and share all household responisbilities, and she works part-time at night to help make ends meet.

On her way to work in Henrico County last year she came off the Interstate ramp too fast and was caught in a radar beam going way over the posted speed limit.

Amanda was unrepresented when she appeared on a reckless driving charge in Henrico General District Court last year. She was found guilty, had her driver's license suspended, and was fined $500.

Now she had a criminal record -- Reckless Driving is a Class 1 misdemeanor in Virginia.

She contacted Virginia reckless driving attorney Tony Stelly.

He appealed the case to circuit court and got  the charge reduced to speeding.

Amanda did not lose her license, and her fine was halved.

Most importantly, she has no criminal record.

Brett Brantley was charged with reckless driving, but was pleased when his attorney negotiated the charge down to speeding.

I was charged with a DUI recently,  and was represented by Mr. Stelly.

He met with me for a long time to get every fact about my arrest that I could remember to tell him.

Before the trial, he met with the police officer and was able to ascertain that there were some potential mistakes made. He then talked to the Commonwealth's Attorney about them, and also about reducing my charge. And, that's what happened. I was convicted of a traffic offense, but not a DUI. Mr. Stelly did a great job for me.

A 22 year old Richmond construction worker, Danny Lago, was acquitted of all six charges against him by a Henrico County, Virginia jury on August 5th. The charges arose from a 2-minute high-speed chase on February 18th that involved firing a shot at the drug dealer's car to render it inoperable, and then ramming it when it came to a stop at a busy intersection. No plea agreement was offered by the Commonwealth, even as the jury were deliberating.

I'd like to add a short testimonial to your list.

When our daughter was being driven home by a friend, they were stopped by the police.  The friend had an illegal substance in the car and they were both ordered to appear in court.  Tony Stelly made the "scarey" process seem easier to handle.  Although the judge would not budge in questioning the arresting officer, Tony was able to have the matter removed from her record after 6 months of probation.  A hard lesson learned by my daughter, "choose your friends wisely" that could have been far worse without experienced representation like Tony provides.

Signed: "A Richmond Father"
I am writing to tell you about my attorney, Tony Stelly. I have known him for more than 10 years, and during that time, he has served my legal needs in various ways, such as doing mine and my wife's powers of attorney, and our wills. However, soon after we met, he represented me in a claim against a financial company whose mismanagement of my account cost me almost a quarter of my total investment. He sued them and got my money back!

I have recommended Tony to many of my friends, and every one of them who used him has thanked me for doing so. I think he is the best, and I thank the Lord for Tony.

Albert L. Nixon, Richmond

I might be in prison if Tony Stelly had not been my attorney. I was under arrest, being held without bail, and facing up to 40 years in prison if convicted. I was 25 years old, and had never been in jail before! This is what happened to me.

In the middle of the night I was watching television at a friend’s house when federal and state investigators showed up and asked if I would come with them to answer some questions about an investigation they were conducting. They said it was too important to wait until the next day, so I went with them.

I answered all their questions honestly. I had no clue that I was under investigation until they told me they had “solid information” that I had committed this crime. They would not tell me what was the “solid evidence” against me. They wanted me to confess and “said it would go easier for me” if I "cooperated," but I told them I had nothing to confess because I was not even aware of what they were talking about. They did not believe me. When I told them I wanted to talk to a lawyer, they arrested me and I was taken to jail and held without bail. I was scared.

I finally was allowed to call an attorney. I called Mr. Stelly because he was recommended by a family friend. He came to see me in jail and listened to me as I explained what had happened to me. He asked me where I had been and who had seen me in the hours before the crime occurred.

Over the next three days Mr. Stelly conducted his own investigation, sometimes clashing with the people investigating the case, and the prosecutors. He personally interviewed everyone who could vouch for my whereabouts during the period of time the crime was committed, and concluded I had been falsely accused because I had alibis for my whereabouts at the relevant times.

He shared his findings with the lead prosecutor and urged him to re-examine the facts and concentrate attention on the people who provided the information against me. As a result of his diligence, the person who falsely implicated me was interviewed again and finally admitted that all that was said to police was a lie. I was set free, and that person was arrested for giving a false statement to the police.

Mr. Stelly worked very hard for me, and took a personal interest in seeing that the all the facts were gathered. I recommend Mr. Stelly if you need an attorney.

Attorney Anton J. ("Tony") Stelly favorably represented me in a very complex civil matter alleging serious personal injury. This matter carried the potential to negatively impact not only my career but my entire future.

To say that I was "more than pleased" with the precise, skillful and unwavering representation provided by Mr. Stelly--would be an understatement.

He presented the facts with both conviction and confidence--all the while instilling in me the confidence that I may have lacked to get through such an ordeal.

I remain thoroughly impressed with Mr. Stelly's professionalism and his outstanding ability to deliver a defense. He is an attorney of the highest caliber and I would recommend him in any/all future endeavors.

In 1998 I was named as a defense witness in a trial for the violations of the civil rights of an inmate in a correctional facility in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Attorneys for the former inmate sought a multi-million dollar settlement. This was an extremely complicated case with allegations of the denial of timely medical services for the inmate and willful disregard of his health and safety. The defense attorney was Mr. Anton J. ("Tony") Stelly.

As an experienced internal affairs investigator I was thoroughly impressed by Mr. Stelly's ability to focus on the key facts surrounding the case, and in his ability to elicit relevant information from the many witnesses in the proceedings. His earlier career training as a Special Agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation was apparent as he doggedly pursued every investigatory avenue to mount a thorough defense in the matter. Due to Mr. Stelly's exhausting research and preparation for what became a five-day trial in Federal Court, the defense prevailed in the case.

As a result of the victory by Mr. Stelly the reputation of a well known senior law enforcement officer, as well as that of multiple members of the correctional facility, remained untarnished. Without qualification I recommend Mr. Stelly as an attorney, and know that he will provide the highest caliber of legal representation.

Virginia Divorce and Family Law Attorney

My husband and I are going through a divorce. In return for my giving up my half interest in our stocks -- currently valued at $100,000 -- he proposes carrying a term life insurance policy until he reaches age 65 with me as the beneficiary under which I will receive $500,000 if he dies before age 65. I think its worth the gamble because he's an idiot and will do something stupid to die young, but is it legal?. I don't want to do this if the court will not enforce it.

My child support payments are set by a court order. It was effective almost two years ago. However, due to the slowdown in the economy, my hours at work have been cut back and the reduction in my income has made it difficult for me to pay child support and my other expenses. My ex-wife knows about this but insists that I continue to pay the court-ordered amount of  child support or she will have me held in contempt. Is there anything I can do?

Marijuana, Cocaine Drug and Alcohol Charges

Is it illegal to search an unoccupied car for drugs in Virginia?

My brother was a passenger in a car stopped by police. The police searched my brother and the driver and found nothing incriminating, when they searched the car they found marijuana. Both of them were charged with possession of marijuana. My brother told the officer of marijuana was not his before the officer arrested him. Is my brother likely to be convicted of possession of marijuana?

Richmond Virginia Reckless Driving Attorney

I was test-driving a BMW in Richmond. Soon after leaving the dealer's lot another driver ran a stop sign and T-boned the BMW. I was hurt pretty bad. My hospital bills are already over $100,000, and I will likely miss 6 months of work. My lawyer said the other driver had minimum liabilty limits of $25,000 on his insurance policy, but that won't be enough to even cover my medical costs. Am I stuck?

My teenage daughter was injured in an auto accident recently and was not at fault. The accident occurred in Richmond on I-95/I-64. The other car was driven by the owner's nephew, and because the nephew lived with the owner and was not listed as a potential driver of the car when the application for insurance was made, the insurance company is denying coverage. Can the insurance company do this even when the owner of the other car paid the insurance premiums on time?
